Bob Eliott (l) and George Kell (r) |
In the upcoming days and weeks we will be posting the MLB All-Star teams as chosen by The Sporting News, AP (and UPI and NEA when applicable) which were chosen at the end of seasons. This is the 1947 iteration.
As with 1946, In '47 there is a difference in the third sackers. TSN picked George Kell and the AP picked Bob Elliott of the Braves. Elliott was the NL MVP and Kell had his usual fine season with the Tigers in the AL.
Also, TSN voters chose Ralph Branca and Bob Feller while the AP voters picked Warren Spahn (a lefty). The Ap always chose a lefty and a right when choosing their All-MLB pitchers.
