Oscar Gamble was a guy who could never be a full-time hitter because as a lefty he didn't have much power versus left-handed pitching but as a left-handed platoon hitter versus right-handed throwers he was good—very good.
In his career versus righties, he had a .468 slugging percentage—
And when platooned/used as a pinch hitter his 162 game averages were good (25 HR and 77 RBI)—
In 1977, 1979, and 1980 they were particularly great .623, .617, and .615 respectively versus righties.
He was also a clutch pinch-hitter who could get some runs home. He was 70/269 in his career .260 and hit 8 home runs but drive in 50 runs. Over 538 at-bats that's a 100-RBI reason.
So, Oscar, the man with thee big hair, we salute you left-handed bat which could be pretty big itself at times.
